Vintage Bride

My own wedding 39 years ago was a fun, funky casual affair in the park- no pearls, lace or diamonds  but also no worries- and we are still going strong.  I think we all enjoy the vision of a dreamlike princess and her handsome groom  but it isn't always affordable at the time and we make do with what we have.  The longevity and growing and living together is what I think really constitutes a 'marriage'.  Our 40th is coming up next year and we could do the pearls, lace and diamond now and maybe we will renew our ceremony ( I hate the word vows). We giggle when we look back at our Wedding photos from 1974, coke can in hand, stomping the plastic wine glass on the grass, the Rabbi with his cooler, me in my "Gunne Sax" granny dress (remember those) - but in the end  our toast to L'Chaim (to life) was all that mattered.

This is my entry for the Three Muses challenge "June Bride".  Imagery from E-vint .com, itKuPilli and Pink Lotty at Deviant Scrap.

  2. Wise words Lori. You're a lucky woman.
    Your bride is majestic; her eyes share something intimate.
    I love the little woodpigeons in the scenery;
    and the BG too, grunge, delicate and romantic at the same time.

  4. 39 years!! Well done and well said. My teen girls watch those over the top wedding shows, and as much as I love to peek, I am with you, even given the funds, I am positive I would not spend to excess either. Keep on keeping on!!! 'PEACE' LOL

  8. I love your image. So beautiful! Hubs and I are celebrating 29 years this month. Our wedding was very small and frugal--we were on a tight budget. Our organist didn't even show up, so I had to hum the wedding march on my way down the aisle. :) Still one of the best days of my life! Here's wishing you and your husband many more happy years!

  9. She's adorable, Lori and congrats on your 40 years. Considering we live in a world where everything is disposable, it is such a blessing when we see people who have been together for such a long time. It is sacred!
